First Day of Summer June 20th
The first day of summer was yesterday and it inspired my post for today. Summer to me means yummy fruit; especially blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. One of my most popular pottery items is my berry bowl. First, I throw a bowl at the potter's wheel. Next,I trim the bowl creating a foot ring,which raises the bowl from any surface. 
By trimming the bowl the inside now echos the outside.
Next, I create patterns making the holes in the bowl. I bisque fire the piece, then wax the holes and bottom so glaze does not stick to those areas. Next, it is high fired and the glaze creates a beautiful color on the pot.
I have been enjoying my berry bowl every day because summer starts a little bit early in the desert. What does summer mean to you?
